The Head of BPS Bengkulu Municipality, Marwansyah conveyed several important points regarding the condition of inflation in Bengkulu Municipality in 2023. Where inflation in December 2023 in Bengkulu Municipality year on year (y-o-y) was recorded at 3.09% and inflation month to month (m-t-m) was recorded at 0 .24%. Meanwhile, the dominant commodity contributes to y-on-y inflation in December 2023, including: rice, filtered clove cigarettes, red chilies, air transportation, cars, gold jewelry, household fuel, maintenance/service, white cigarettes, and motorbikes. Then, the highest m-t-m inflation in 2023 occurred in January 2023 which was caused by the increase in prices of several commodities such as filter clove cigarettes, rice, motorbikes and noodles. Meanwhile, the deepest m-t-m deflation in 2023 was 0.07% in August 2023, which was caused by the decline in prices of several commodities such as purebred chicken meat, shallots and red chilies.
Marwansyah also said that based on the results of the 2022 Cost of Living Survey (SBH), there were differences in the number of commodities included in the inflation calculator from previously 367 commodities to 360 commodities. Some old commodities that are no longer included are several types of fresh fish, telephone rates, cameras, children's bicycles, blenders and white cigarettes. Then some of the new commodities selected were coconut milk, e-cigarette equipment, pizza, masks, glasses, and private/tutoring fees.
In this coordination meeting, the Acting Mayor of Bengkulu, Arif Gunadi, hopes that the relevant OPDs will carry out their main duties creatively so that they can control price increases. As a provider of quality statistical data, BPS Bengkulu Municipality is ready to provide the data needed so that the jointly hoped for goals can be achieved.
